Meet Our Team: Busola Afolabi, Operations Manager
It’s time for you to meet our team.
This time, we’re introducing you to Busola Afolabi, Operations Manager at Success4All.
We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her better, but if there’s a particular question that you’d like to ask her, please get in touch with us either via our social media platforms or via email.
What’s your role with S4A?
I am the Operations Manager. I’m not sure if it’s the correct title but, it’s stuck. I make sure all the services Success4All offers run smoothly while planning and strategising for the months ahead. I should network more but, there aren’t enough hours in the day for that!
How long have you been with S4A?
As the daughter of the Founding Director, I was one of Success4All’s first volunteers. I didn’t start working till March 2014 as the Clubs Coordinator. This year will be my 7th year of working at Success4All.
What did you do before joining S4A?
Before I started at Success4All, I was working 3 jobs in London trying to make it as a digital set designer for theatre companies. It was a competitive, largely male-dominated world, and after a while, it wasn’t as exciting or inspiring as I had hoped. I also spent a year of my life as an online Bingo presenter! Two little ducks – 22
What is a typical day in the life of an Operations Manager like?
Answering questions. I spend my day answering questions and talking to myself.
What is your favourite part about your role?
Doing the accounts and bookkeeping. I enjoy working with numbers.
What is it that gets you motivated, is it a quote, a song or even a cause?
The best part of my job is listening to stories, hopes and dreams of the children and parents who we work with, then thinking about what we can do to support them in their journey. There is SO MUCH talent in the North East, children who are wise beyond their years and parents who are spinning a million plates with next to nothing. They inspire me to be better and to make sure Success4All plays a positive role in their lives.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love crafting. So currently, I am doing paint by numbers and sewing. I like to knit, embroider, sing, but NOT drawing.
